Hyperic and JBoss Sign OEM Agreement to Extend JBoss Network Offering

Partnership Validates Growing Demand for Open Source Application Management, Expands Hyperic’s Strategic Distribution Channel

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – August 29, 2005 – Hyperic, a leader in application management platforms for IT operations, announced today that it has entered into an OEM licensing agreement with JBoss®, Inc., to incorporate Hyperic’s HQ 2.1 management platform into JBoss Network™ Enterprise Manager, a centerpiece of the JBoss Subscription, the company’s enterprise services and tools offering. JBoss Network Enterprise Manager provides management and monitoring capabilities to JBoss support customers.

“With adoption of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS) on the rise, JBoss is looking to enhance our professional support services with tools that will greatly simplify management of JEMS-based applications for our customers,” said Brad Murdoch, vice president of services, JBoss, Inc. “We chose Hyperic HQ because it offers this critical management and monitoring capability. Not only is Hyperic HQ built on JBoss technology, it was also designed specifically for open source applications. As such, both Hyperic and JBoss share a commitment to open source and quality support services.”

Deployed by Fortune 500 and mid-size enterprises, Hyperic HQ 2.1 is the most predictable and complete management solution for IT operations. Unlike other management solutions on the market, IT professionals can begin to manage their open source and commercial applications through a web-based portal that provides auto-discovery of inventory, monitoring, control and alerting capabilities – all within just one hour of downloading HQ 2.1 from Hyperic’s website.

“As one of the most familiar and respected companies in the open source community, JBoss is an ideal strategic partner for Hyperic and we are pleased that HQ is now a part of the JBoss ecosystem,” said Hyperic Chief Executive Officer Javier Soltero. “Our partnership with JBoss signals an increasing demand for application management tools that enable IT operators to gain better visibility and control over their open source-based applications and infrastructure. This new partnership also signifies Hyperic’s strategic approach to capturing greater market share. We are keeping up with increasing demand by expanding our direct sales capabilities and adding JBoss through our strategic partner channel.”

In addition to providing HQ technology directly to the enterprise market, Hyperic’s partner program offers ISVs and managed service providers the ability to create custom management solutions for their customers.
