Software soothsaying - 2008 edition

In the spirit of David Letterman (one often imitated by yours truly), the folks at Gartner Research have released the list of “Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2008″. The thing I find most interesting about this list is how truly un-new it is. My first reaction when reading it was “I thought most of this stuff was on last years list”.

In an effort to look beyond the ‘faddish’ nature of some of the trends, I tried to extract one or more themes from the list to see what, if any, implications they’d have on the folks we work with. Here’s a few…
