Hyperic and OpenNMS Partner to Provide Integrated Products and Services
Driven by Customer Demand, Joint Solution Will Deliver More Complete, Unified Picture of Complex Networks and Systems
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 6, 2008 – Hyperic Inc., a leading open source web infrastructure management software provider, and OpenNMS, the world's first open source network management platform, today announced a partnership and product integration plans designed to provide modern, web-driven businesses with the industry's most complete open source management solution. The first integration milestone for these projects is scheduled to be released later this month. The companies will discuss the integration and outline the roadmap in a webinar March 11, 2008, at 2:00pm EST.
True to the open source approach, the partnership was driven by the desire to increase customer value. Both companies' products are frequently found side by side in large-scale data centers, with Hyperic managing the systems and applications and OpenNMS providing advanced network management.
Last year, the companies were invited by a leading healthcare provider to present an integrated management solution for its large-scale data center. Through that first integration effort, Hyperic and OpenNMS discovered that together they were able to provide an end product that was significantly more useful to the customer. In the first stage of integration, customers will be able to easily incorporate alerts and navigate between the user interfaces of each product. This unified view will provide a more complete picture of their infrastructure, while helping them respond faster to potential issues. The joint roadmap for further interoperability will be outlined during next week's webinar. "Today's web-based companies face unprecedented challenges in terms of the complexity and scale of the environment. Operations teams need new tools to meet these challenges," said Charles Lee, VP of engineering at Hyperic. "Our partnership with OpenNMS answers this need by providing teams with insight into every aspect of their environment from the network straight through to the application and the ability to use that information to circumvent problems before they happen, not after."
"Hyperic and OpenNMS capabilities are extremely complementary," said David Hustace, president of the OpenNMS Group. "This combination gives overworked administrators the ability to employ two best-of-breed management software solutions together to maximize visibility into their infrastructure."
Hyperic offers the first software specifically designed to monitor and manage large-scale web infrastructure. With the click of a button, Hyperic HQ automatically discovers, integrates and manages over 70 different technologies out of the box, including databases, middleware, application servers, web servers, virtualization servers, network devices and more. Further, Hyperic HQ enables web operations teams to consolidate all their management, control and diagnostics into a single web portal by providing a flexible framework for customizing all management needs. Companies like StubHub, Ask.com and Intuit, who are determined to build the best user experience possible turn to Hyperic, not only to manage their extremely complex systems but to provide competitive advantage by increasing the performance of their websites and applications.
OpenNMS is the world's first enterprise grade network management platform developed under the open source model. It consists of a community supported open-source project as well as a commercial services, training, and support organization. It is being used worldwide by companies such as GE Healthcare, USA Today, Idleaire, Papa John's International and the BBC.
