IONA to OEM Hyperic as Part of its FUSETM Family of Open Source Products

FUSE HQ Provides Comprehensive Cross-Platform Support for SOA Deployments

SAN FRANCISCO – December 11, 2007 – Hyperic Inc., the leader in multi-platform, open source IT management, today announced that IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a leader in distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure solutions for performance-demanding IT environments, will use Hyperic’s flagship product, Hyperic HQ Enterprise, as the foundation for its new monitoring and management system, FUSE HQ. FUSE HQ is available now as part of IONA’s latest version of its FUSETM family of open source SOA products (also announced today).

The FUSE family of products is IONA’s tested and certified releases of leading SOA Open Source projects at the Apache Software Foundation. FUSE HQ provides systems management and monitoring capabilities across all products in the FUSE family, including FUSE ESB (Apache ServiceMix), FUSE Message Broker (Apache ActiveMQ), FUSE Services Framework (Apache CXF) and FUSE Mediation Router (Apache Camel).

Key features of FUSE HQ include:

“With FUSE, we want to provide our customers with the benefits of community developed software coupled with the assurances of enterprise class support and tooling,” said Larry Alston, Vice President and General Manager Open Source, IONA Technologies. “The integration of Hyperic’s technology in FUSE HQ enables us to offer management capabilities that are flexible and easy to use with open source deployments in the enterprise, giving our customers a single view into their infrastructure no matter what combination of technologies they are using.”

“IONA’s FUSE products provide a flexible platform for integration and support a broad range of technologies, protocols and deployment options,” said Hyperic CEO Javier Soltero. “As a result, users need a management system that is cross platform, and can quickly integrate new technologies. We’re pleased that IONA has selected Hyperic’s technology to help make FUSE-supported systems easy and affordable to manage.”

Based on Hyperic HQ Enterprise, Fuse HQ delivers enterprise-class systems management and monitoring capabilities to administrators. FUSE HQ is available only to IONA customers who subscribe for FUSE Support.

With Hyperic, companies can centrally manage their entire infrastructure, and more efficiently and effectively avoid costly downtime. An extensible system, Hyperic HQ manages all kinds of operating systems, web servers, application servers and database servers. The system starts with an auto-discovery process that regularly scans the entire infrastructure to detect and begin monitoring new technology and services. This powerful level of automation helps administrators keep pace with the rapidly changing and dynamic environments typical of SOA-based implementations.

Using the Hyperic HQ Portal, the software can be quickly configured to monitor, alert, diagnose and control most types of applications. Hyperic HQ was awarded “Best Systems Management Solution” at the 2007 LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Francisco.

Hyperic's multi-platform approach enables its partners to incorporate management across the widest range of environments, including commercial and open source. In addition to IONA, Hyperic has OEM agreements with MySQL AB, Red Hat/JBoss and MuleSource.
