SpringSource Announces Partnership With Hyperic
Spring to Integrate Hyperic HQ to Deliver Enterprise-Class Management for Spring Software in the Production Environment
San Mateo, Calif – December 12, 2007 – SpringSource, formerly known as Interface21, a leading provider of trusted open source software for building and deploying mission-critical enterprise applications, today announced a strategic partnership with Hyperic, the leader in multi-platform, open source IT management. Under the terms of the agreement, SpringSource will use Hyperic’s flagship open source software, Hyperic HQ, as the foundation of its new systems management offering.
The joint offering is the only management solution of its kind available today and provides users of the Spring Framework with a single view into the performance and health of their web-based infrastructure. Building on Hyperic’s proven management platform—specifically architected to consider all layers of infrastructure including hardware, middleware, virtualization and applications—the joint product enables system administrators to expand beyond classical monitoring activities to increase availability and improve the overall health of their IT infrastructure.
“Custom-built web applications have become mainstream to the enterprise. As a result, it is critical that leading web infrastructure providers like SpringSource provide their customers with comprehensive systems management capabilities to power these business critical services,” said Javier Soltero, CEO of Hyperic. “We are pleased that SpringSource has selected Hyperic technology to give its customers access to the industry’s most up-to-date and comprehensive monitoring and alerting tools so that they can discover and fix potential problems before they can impact the business.”
The joint management offering addresses the needs of the next generation data center, where today’s organizations must take into account the evolving demands of today’s IT infrastructure. Additional features include:
- Auto-discovery of Spring-managed applications and components and the platforms and application servers that they run on
- Monitoring of Spring applications, components and runtime
- Custom alert configuration and corrective actions
- Performance and service-level report generation
- Automatic calculation and updating of baselines for metrics
- JConsole support
“The Spring Framework has been widely adopted by developers for all aspects of enterprise application development and deployment,” says Rod Johnson, CEO of SpringSource and founder of the Spring Framework. “We are proud to collaborate with Hyperic, as they are a leader in open source systems management and are widely respected, utilized and deployed. SpringSource’s partnership with them is a response to market demand for a solution that enables IT administrators to manage and monitor the use of Spring applications across the enterprise. The joint management offering is further representative that Spring applications have graduated from easy and reliable developer tools to being an important part of the fiber of the enterprise infrastructure.”
