Hyperic HQ 3.1 Release Delivers Most Complete Open Source Systems Management Software Available

64 managed technologies and complete localization among top new features

LINUXWORLD - SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., August 7, 2007 - Hyperic Inc., the leader in multi-platform, open source systems management, today released Hyperic HQ 3.1. The new version extends Hyperic's leadership in natively managed technologies with 18 new supported technologies-including Coldfusion, Glassfish and Jetty, as well as increased support for Tomcat6 and MySQL. With these additions, Hyperic HQ now manages 64 technologies-significantly more than anyone else in the market. Additional enhancements include increased usability and a customizable UI that can be localized to fit specific needs.

"Open source systems management software is making inroads in the enterprise," said Matt Asay, vice president of business development at Alfresco. "Software like Hyperic HQ was built from the ground up to solve a new generation of management challenges, and offers organizations a more agile and flexible solution than they could get from one of the Big Four, and they do it at a lower price. Alfresco was also built to solve a new generation of content management challenges at an affordable price, and we are extremely excited to be working with Hyperic."

By providing organizations with the industry's most up-to-date and comprehensive monitoring and alerting tools, Hyperic HQ 3.1 solves the basic IT challenges that afflict online services companies-how to keep their services running at 100 percent availability as they continually add the applications and infrastructure needed to move their businesses forward.

"The speed at which companies are adding applications and employing new business models is incredible, especially in web-driven markets," said Hyperic CEO Javier Soltero. "We have architected the new version to be as user friendly as possible in order to allow IT to focus on supporting business initiatives rather than maintaining their systems management software. These time-saving features make a huge difference for organizations in which every minute of downtime has tremendous implications for the business."

The improved open source management and monitoring tools in Hyperic HQ 3.1 include:

Hyperic HQ 3.1 includes plugin support for more than 60 technologies, including recent additions Zimbra, Alfresco, Coldfusion, Sendmail and Jetty (Webtide), among others.

In addition, the company also announced the availability of Hyperic HQ 3.1 Enterprise Beta. This new version incorporates all of the features in Hyperic HQ 3.1, as well as "follow the sun" alerting which notifies users of incidents based on support schedules, greatly simplifying the management of 24x7 or rotating support teams. Additionally, the new Report Center provides easy analysis of performance and service level activity. Hyperic HQ 3.1 Enterprise is delivered with five preconfigured reports, and the capability to customize and create new reports.

Hyperic HQ 3.1 and Hyperic HQ 3.1 Enterprise Beta are available now and can be downloaded at www.hyperic.com.
