Scalability and Trust
Enterprise scalability and the freedom of open source
Hyperic serves big IT. Big infrastructures are Hyperic's reason for being, so HQ is built to scale from the ground up. HQ scalability comes from the frameworks we use, our architectural goals and choices, and our belief that understanding our customers' process comes first. It’s no wonder over 3,500 companies trust Hyperic HQ as their primary monitoring and management tool.
Industrial-strength persistence and data management: Hyperic uses the JBoss Hibernate persistence and query service to provide a high-concurrency architecture without resource contention. HQ supports a range of robust database servers to satisfy spectrum of scalability requirements, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
Optimized data retention and storage: HQ's data retention strategy is to store the minimum amount of measurement data necessary to get the job done. HQ stores limited historical data in the production environment, compresses it cleverly, and allows for longer term storage to support trend analysis in a secondary database.
Highly scalable front-end: The HQ user interface is based on Tapestry, an open-source framework for creating dynamic, robust, highly scalable web applications in Java. The Tapestry framework gives HQ the headroom to evolve in lockstep with customer needs, and to provide ever richer functionality to complex, growing deployments.
APIs and automation options: HQ provides multiple alternatives for accomplishing high volume administration and operations tasks. When working through the user interface is not the most efficient way to accomplish a task, the HQ API provides direct programmatic access to all HQ data and functionality. The HQU Framework allows you to incorporate pluggable automation directly into HQ.
