Perlbal is a Perl-based reverse proxy load balancer and web server commonly used by many large web sites to distribute the load over a number of servers. Perlbal is a single-threaded event-based server supporting HTTP load balancing and web serving.

Hyperic ships with built-in support for Perlbal, auto-discovering the Perlbal server and monitoring its availability and throughput.
