Automatic Recovery, Controls and Actions
Streamline & automate planned & unplanned operations tasks
Keeping your infrastructure healthy involves more than monitoring and analyzing. Systems management also translates to action: lifecycle control and housekeeping processes are integral to the operations workflow, and key to problem prevention and resolution. With HQ you can perform remote control actions on the platforms and services under management. For example, you can start, stop, and run garbage collection on an application server, or perform analysis or housekeeping functions on a database server. You can use HQ control actions to streamline day-to-day operations, reduce the risk of human error or oversight, and respond rapidly when remote control is necessary. HQ control actions can be:
On-demand, scheduled, or rules-based: You can use HQ to perform a control action explicitly or automatically, or on a scheduled basis. You can expedite problem-solving by defining control actions to be performed when an alert fires, or as part of a problem escalation chain.
Applied to a group: You can apply a control action to a single resource, or to a group of resources of the same type. For instance, you can bounce all your web servers once a day with a single command.
A heads-up or an historical record: HQ provides visibility and history of control actions that have been performed, whether as part of a normal workflow, or to deal with a problem. The HQ Dashboard lists recent control actions across the deployment, and a resource's Control page shows control action history.
